TCGI Engineers was joined by DCCD Engineering Corp. and PhilJAC Inc. in an auction held last month. Abaya hopes that the contract would soon be awarded so it can immediately issue a notice to proceed with the project.

Another bid will take place on November 15.  "We will do a bid and award the general contractor for NAIA 1 rehab.… Hopefully, by November 30 we can issue a notice to proceed," Abaya added.

Earlier, Malacañang approved the structural retrofitting and rehabilitation of the terminal at a cost of 1.16 billion. Of the total amount, 340 million will be used to improve the structural integrity of the NAIA 1 building, while 500 million has been allocated for architectural, engineering, and interior design and works to improve the internal facilities.

To address runway congestion, 300 million will be used for the construction of a rapid-exit taxiway. Another 20 million will be spent for the complete rehabilitation of 72 toilets. – Business Mirror
