Philippine Police used high-tech robot to scan suspected Bomb

Police on Wednesday evening used a high-tech robot to scan a suspected bomb that was hurled on the roof of a bus in Pasay City hours earlier.

The robot took x-ray images of the package that was inside a backpack hurled on the bus from a footbridge, radio dzBB's Nimfa Ravelo reported.

Citing initial findings, Pasay City police chief Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Llorca said the package contained what appeared to be batteries and wire but no triggering device.

The bag weighed about 2 kilograms, the dzBB report said.

"Ninety percent yan pinagdadasal natin na negative," Llorca said.

He said the next step is to take the package to an open area, so traffic at the corner of EDSA Extension and Harrison can finally be reopened to traffic.

The area had been closed to traffic since 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, Llorca sought understanding for the traffic jam, saying it was for the safety of the public. — TJD, GMA News
